MetroStar3000 (MS3000) is PacketFront’s series of Gigabit Ethernet switches designed for broadband networks. MetroStar3000 contains all of the common features that are expected in a Layer 2+ switch, as well as a set of key features for broadband networks, such as the ability to use both 100Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s fiber connections with the same switch.

The MetroStar3000 can be managed standalone using the standard protocols SNMP and Telnet. This ensures that the MetroStar3000 will work together with existing network management systems and that it can be configured by any provisioning system that uses these protocols.

The MetroStar3000 supports full VLAN ranges, enables bandwidth limitation, provides security features for service VLANs, full support for Q-in-Q, and provides efficient handling of multicast - including access control of TV channels to prevent card-sharing only to mention some of the available features.

All connectors of the MetroStar3000 are placed in the front of the unit, which simplifies installation and service.

Together with PacketFront's control and provisioning system, BECS, the MetroStar3000 support mass deployments. The switch can be installed into the network without any configuration and it gets automatically its full configuration from BECS.
